NightSky ClubRadio
I just discovered a site called NightSky Club Radio. “Best EDM & House Music,” or so it says. Has nothing to do with me.
First thing I heard upon listening was Maxi Priest’s “Close To You” –
Eh, not bad, I guess. The next couple songs were crap, but I kinda liked “HOT4EVA” by DJ Short-E (whoever that is). I probably shouldn’t admit to that in public, however.
I’m wondering if I should try to get a gig on there, but I don’t really know all that much about club music. But if they’re cool with kinda sorta electronica like Poe, we might get somewhere.

What do you think of eurodance, Night Sky? Any preferences among the golden age 90’s era?
I like it ok, I guess, but I couldn’t pick out many names or acts. Got any recommendations?
Hey, Nightsky. Someone within the wdydfae kin is into this band Liphlich (liff-lish). What do you think? Can you add any of this to your Rocktober lineup?
They really don’t have any bad songs, as far as I can tell–with the caveat that this type of music is not really my thing.
Regarding the band name, the word on the street is that they were trying to phonetically approximate the name of the character Riff Raff with different spelling then ended up with Liphlich somewhere along the way. Then they said, “Let’s just go with that instead.”
Sorry, the last one is a different band called Lack-co. I got mixed up and got that one by accident.
Why, I’m tellin’ yuh, all this dangblamed youngster music sounds the same to me!
NSR, here are a couple of other Rocktober recommendations for your consideration. I seriously don’t know what you’re going to think of Malice Mizer, the 90s Japanese French rococo gothic decadence band. But they’re seasonally appropriate. I guess?
Au Revoir
Bel Air
Le Ciel
I just went full Japanese French rococo gothic decadence. Never go full Japanese French rococo gothic decadence.
It always amazes me how much Japanese music has a late-60s American lounge/Brill Building/pop sensibility to it. Even the Japanese French rococo gothic decadent stuff Or maybe I’m just imagining it.
As Christopher Walken once said, I like what I’m hearing!
I found this comment just as I started my Cibo Matto post. must be Japanese crazy music night.
Looking forward to Cibo Matto–never heard of it/him/them. Good commentary! The lead singer Gackt drives the ladies mad and is kind of a David Bowie figure. He’s probably embarrassed now that he did that stuff in the 90s. The guitarist Mana went on to form a new group, Moi Dix Mois, still active. I won’t link to his (her?) stuff because the needle starts jumping off the gauge re: sacrilege level.
The thing about this sub-genre is that the skill seems very high in terms of playing and arrangements and so forth, but it all starts to sound the same–melodramatic faux baroque periodically interrupted by metalish crashes and guitar wails. I think once you get into this style you can’t switch gears between songs.
