    When it rains it pours at this joint.

    I didn’t know about Mondo Grosso. By some vague word association they made me think of the Japanese samba band Orquestra de la Luz. They did a “Close to You” cover that seemed almost like an NSR mashup at first, but then ended up sounding totally appropriate.

      I don’t know why, but for some reason seeing the words “Japanese samba band” cracks me up.

        Yeah, and a Japanese samba band doing the Carpenters. It’s like the perfect storm of mash-up-ery. But it is a thing.

        To be fair, there are a lot of descendants of Japanese in Brazil, and conversely, a lot of Brazilians in Japan.
